We pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 am. to drive for about 3 hours to Mollepata where we start our Salkantay trek. As soon as we are in mollepata while having breakfast, the cook and horseman will pack up all the camping equipment and kitchen stuff and we will start walking the first 3 hours will be a bit uphill to reach Cruzpata where we will have lunch with panoramic views of beautiful mountains. snowfall (Humantay; 4120m/13500ft and Salkantay; 6271m/20575ft), just the beginning! We will start our Salkantay trek towards Soraypampa, our first Salkantay Trek camp (3800m/11750ft; the highest and coldest camp of the trip) we will be very close to the second highest Salkantay peak in Cusco.
After having our Salkantay Trek breakfast we start walking around 5:30 am, because this day will be the longest day, the first 4 hours are uphill to reach the highest point of Salkantay Trek (4650m/15200ft) located at halfway between 2 huge mountains; Salkantay to the right and Tucarhuay to the left. From the pass, the views of the 2 snow-capped mountains are incredible. There is a chance of snow here. After a rest, we will continue our trek (downhill) through the spectacular cloud forest towards Huayracpunku, where we will have lunch. We walk again after lunch in the direction of the beginning of the jungle until we reach our second Salkantay Trek camp of Chaullay or Colcapampa (3000m/9800ft).
After breakfast, at 6.30 am, we start walking through the high jungle crossing the Lluskamayo river and a variety of small streams to reach La Playa walking around 6 hours. Today we will go through valleys and we will have wonderful views of waterfalls, tropical fruits, plants and as soon as we are at the beach place the horses will return to Mollepata taking the same Salkantay Trek and after lunch we will take a local car. to get to the hydroelectric station to start walking 2 more hours taking the railway to Aguas Calientes.
Salkantay trek important day, we get up early in the morning around 4 am and then at 4:30 to have breakfast and go for a walk to Machupicchu that takes an hour and a half to Machupicchu, but there is another option to take the first bus leaving at 5:30 to Machupicchu (duration 25 minutes) to appreciate the magnificent city while the sun rises. The guided tour of Machu Picchu (approximately 2 hours) is provided by your Guide and after this you can explore the mysterious city on your own. If you still have energy, you can also climb Huaynapicchu (2720m/8890ft)!!! It takes 45 minutes to reach the top and after enjoying Machupicchu you have to go down to Aguas Calientes to take the train back to Ollantaytambo and then the bus back to Cusco.
