Itinerary

In the afternoon, we will visit the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral, where you will appreciate incomparable pieces of religious art. Then, we will take a tour of the first Inca ruin on the route: The Qorikancha or "Temple of the Sun", a religious structure on which the Convent of Santo Domingo stands. Afterwards, we will go to the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuamán, one of the most important and valuable architectural exhibitions in Latin America. After touring it, we will visit Qenqo, a ceremonial archaeological complex that will surprise you with its peculiar design. Finally, we will visit Tambomachay, a famous temple dedicated to water, where its ancient fountains and pools still function today. Likewise, Puka Pukara, a fortress with beautiful walls and terraces. The end of the tour will be at approximately 6 pm.

Very early we will transfer from your hotel to the train station in Ollantaytambo providing you with a personalized service, since we handle small groups. It is here where we will board the train that passes through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, which lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes by train, on this route you will enjoy beautiful landscapes until you reach the town of Aguas Calientes. Once in Aguas Calientes we can take the bus that will take us to the Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. The trip takes 30 minutes, finally we will arrive at Machu Picchu, you will be amazed by this monument considered one of the 7 wonders of the Modern World, immediately our tourism professional will start the guided tour so that you can better understand the history and architecture of the City Machu Picchu Inca. After the tour, you will board the return bus to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time to eat your food and go to the train station, where you will return to the Ollantaytambo station, once there you will board the bus. from the train company for your return to Cusco. Our private transport will be waiting for you at the station or office of the train company to finally take you to your hotel.

Continuing with our tour we will arrive at Moray, where we will observe several natural holes that were terraces for agricultural experimentation. Then we will continue to the Salineras de Maras, in this place we will observe the natural process of salt extraction that dates from the time of the Incas. Then we go to the Ollantaytambo Fortress, built to monitor the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions by the inhabitants of the jungle.

We start with the pick up of our passengers from their different accommodations that are close to the main square between 4:15 and 4:45 am. Then, we go to the district of Cusipata approximately 77 kilometers from the city of Cusco, we will travel in our mini van for 2 hours. We will have our breakfast in the Cusipata district. Immediately, we will continue for approximately 1 hour more by trail until we reach the community of Phulapatawasi where we will begin our walk towards the mountain of colors for approximately one hour and a half. We will be 40 minutes in the mountain of colors "Winikunka", appreciating the scenic beauty of the place. Then, we will go down the same path for an hour back to the bus station. Then, we will go by the ban for an hour to the Cusipata district to have our buffet lunch. We finish having lunch and we will begin the return to the city of Cusco. Our arrival in Cusco will be at approximately 4.30 pm near the Plaza Regocijo.

Duration: Total time 9 ½ hours including mainly travelling by bus; not considering the informative stops. Leaving from Cusco city (3400masl/11156ft) very early in the morning on one of our land transports. Travelling through the interesting interandean valleys and Andean communities. We will visit Pre-Inca site, afterwards we arrive to Paucartambo town (3025masl/9924ft) with a Spanish colonial architecture; Cusco´s folklore capital and visiting the interesting museum. Continuing we are arriving to the Acjanaco pass (4000masl/13123ft) from here we are descending into the Cloud Forest to enjoy our lunch along the road, these is a place with lot of endemic species like the Cock of the Rock, the national bird of Peru, for what we are visiting a platform of observation (1600masl/5000ft), we can see also orchids, bromeliads and tree ferns, and continuing we are arriving to our accommodations at the cloud forest where we will spend the first night of our tour. Overnight at the accommodations: Cloud Forest (980masl/3248ft).

Duration: Total time 9 hours including mainly travelling by bus and boat; not considering the informative stops. After our very early breakfast we are continuing on our bus passing by Pillcopata (527m/1729ft) and later arriving to the Atalaya port (500masl/1640ft) set on the Alto Madre de Dios river banks, from here we are starting boating down the stream to get the chance to enjoy the high diversity on birds species like egrets, vulture, cormorants and visiting the Machuhuasi Amazonian pond with a great opportunity to see the “shansho” or Hoatzin and more different birds, afterwards we are back to our boat downstream to visit the Hotspring to enjoy our lunch here and afrterwards going by boat to navigate until our accommodations at the Dorado Lodge (300masl/986ft), during the boating we can enjoy our lunch in the boat. We have the chance to visit the platform of observation at the mammals claylick área, arriving after a hike along the trail system from the lodge which is located in the beginning of the lowland rainforest Overnight at the accommodations: Dorado Lodge (300masl/986ft).

Duration: total time 10 hours, not considering stops for lunch and stops. With the first light of the day we begin to travel by boat in the direction of the Manu National Park entering just after the confluence of the Alto Madre de Dios and Manu rivers, we will stop briefly at the Limonal ranger station (310 masl / 1017ft) to sign the guest book of the Reserve Zone. Returning to our boat, we will go up the Manu River and at the same time we will enjoy our breakfast, leaving behind the western facilities to enter the tourist area for approximately 5 hours to the Salvador oxbow lake, where we will spend the next two nights at the Casa Machiguenga. During the navigation we can enjoy our lunch and at the same time a great variety of birds such as macaws, egrets, spoonbills and good chances of seeing capybaras, alligators, turtles, monkeys eating from the trees in the surroundings, and with more luck a wild cat sunbathing on the beaches. After arriving, we can go on a wildlife hike along the great trail system in this pristine rainforest. We will spend the night in the accommodations: Casa Machiguenga (370 masl / 1213 feet).

According to the reservation list at the limonal ranger station, we are allowed to visit Salvador lake by catamaran with the best chance of meeting the giant otters family there, then we continue to explore the surroundings from virgin jungle along the trail system to return. to our accommodation for lunch at Casa Matsiguenka, after having the opportunity to interact with our Matsiguenka friends and their culture, after dinner we can visit the mammal clay lick. Overnight in the accommodation: Casa Matsiguenka (370masl/1213ft)
