Itinerary

We will leave Cusco at approximately 5:00 a.m. A bus will take us to the town of Mollepata (2900 masl) where we will arrive at approximately 7:30 in the morning, we will make a stop for last minute provisions, stretching our legs or to use the bathrooms in a local restaurant. . We will continue our trip to Sayapata, our starting point of the trek. We will meet our support staff, who will load the equipment on horses and mules. Around 9:00 am, we will start our walk towards Soraypampa (3850 masl). During the trek we will have panoramic views of the majestic Salkantay, other snow-capped mountains and the Apurimac River Valley. Around 1:00 p.m. we will have a Peruvian lunch. After lunch, we will visit the Humantay lake, a wonderful lake in the mountains (3 hours of walking) and we will return to our camp where the tents will be ready for you and your dinner.

Today, nature will drastically change from dry landscapes to snow-capped peaks and tropical areas. After a nutritious breakfast, we will begin the most difficult part of the trek. We will start the walk around 7:00 in the morning. We will walk to a place called Pampa Salkantay, then we will head towards the left side of the snow-capped peaks of Umantay located next to Apu Salkantay. At noon we will be at the highest point (4600 meters above sea level). Salkantay route tour to Machu Picchu We will appreciate spectacular views of the mountains and the imposing snow-capped peaks of Salkantay (6264 meters above sea level) which is known as the second highest point in the Cusco region. Around 1:00 p.m. We will have our lunch, in the area called Huayracmachay. After a walk of approximately 3 hours, we will arrive at our camp in Challway (2920 masl). Around 7:00 p.m. m., we will recover from the walk and have dinner.

Around 7:00 am, we will start our hike. We will walk for about 6 hours towards Playa Sahuayaco and during this period; We will observe a town called Collpabamba, also called the "Cloudy Eyebrow Forest" where you can see waterfalls, fruit trees, varied flora and birds. If we are lucky, we will be able to observe the famous bird called “Gallito de las Rocas”. Here we will have lunch. At 14:00 a local bus will take us to Termas de Santa Teresa, where you can enjoy and relax in the thermal pools. You will have dinner and camp there.

Today is the final stretch of the trek before reaching Aguas Calientes at the base of Machu Picchu. After breakfast, we will start walking for approximately 3 hours along the river, surrounded by vegetation and impressive mountains towards the place called Hidroeléctrica. Here we will have lunch and after a break we will continue walking for the next 3 hours approximately to the town of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, you will be accommodated at the hostel. You will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant around 7:00 PM.

Today, it will start early around 4:30 am. And walk to Machu Picchu. At Machu Picchu, you will have a guided tour for approximately two hours and then you will be free to explore the Citadel and take pictures, if you wish, walk to the Puerta del Sol or ascend towards the Huaynapicchu mountain. At 18:45 (depending on availability), you will take a train to Ollantaytambo and from there; a bus will take you to Cusco.
