Itinerary

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco from 5:00 am to 5:30 am to go by bus to Mollepata. Begin a spectacular panoramic drive through the plains of Anta with beautiful panoramic views of the majestic Salkantay and other snow-capped mountains, and the valley of the Apurímac River. After a two and a half hour drive, we stop in Mollepata to get last-minute supplies for breakfast, stretch our legs, or use the restrooms, before continuing on to Marcocasa. There we will meet our support staff. They will load the equipment on horses and mules. Around 9:30 am we will start our walk towards Soraypampa (3900 masl) if we maintain a regular pace it will take approximately 4 hours to reach Soraypampa the first camp where we will have lunch. After lunch in the afternoon we have the option of going up to Lake Umantay (4200 masl) that takes 3 hours of walking round trip from the camp to see the Umantay glacier lake. But if we keep the pace slow; We will have lunch halfway between Soraypampa and Marco Casa perhaps after 3 hours of walking. And after that we walked another two and a half hours to Soraypampa. Anyway our camp will be in Soraypampa. The sleeping tents will be ready and we will have a delicious hot dinner in the evening.

Today early in the morning we will wake you up with coca tea. Around 6:00 we will have a nutritious breakfast around 7:00 am we will start the most difficult day of the entire Salkantay trek; We will walk to the highest point of the trek. After 6 kilometers uphill through the magnificent landscape of the Rocky Mountains and enjoying the view of Mount Salkantay. We reached the top of the hike. We will appreciate spectacular views of the mountains and the imposing snow-capped peaks of Salkantay (6264 masl) which is known as the second highest mountain in the Cusco region. After 2 hours downhill around 1:00 p.m. We will have our delicious Peruvian lunch, in the area called Huayracmachay. Then we continue our walk towards Chaullay approximately 3 hours of descent we will arrive at our camp in Chaullay = 2900 masl where we will have the tents ready to sleep. Around 7:00 p.m. we will have dinner to recover energy from the walk.

Around 7:30 a.m.; We will start our hike to La Playa through the Santa Teresa Valley. We will walk approximately 6 hours during the walk we will see: waterfall, orchids, coffee, banana, avocado plantations and we will try the famous granadilla or passion fruit and we will also see a town called Colpapampa also called the "cloud forest in front" where you can see waterfalls, waters hot springs, fruit trees, varied flora and birds. If we are lucky, we will be able to see the famous bird called "Gallito de las Rocas". After lunch at La playa, we will take a local transport to Santa Teresa. Where we will have aur during the night, in the afternoon we can go to the Santa Teresa hot springs to enjoy it. Then return to the camp for happy hours and dinner.

Después de nuestro delicioso desayuno caminaremos aproximadamente 7 horas. Alrededor de las 8:30 a.m. iniciamos nuestra caminata hacia el pueblo de Colpani tendremos la oportunidad de ver cultivos de coca, mandarina, naranja y yuca. Continuamos por la orilla del río Vilcanota hasta llegar a La Oroya (puente de cable) luego continuamos hacia Hidroeléctrica donde tendremos nuestro almuerzo. Después del almuerzo caminaremos por la vía del tren pero en la base de Machupicchu y la montaña Waynapicchu desde la carretera veremos Machupicchu. Después de dos horas y media de caminata estaremos en el pueblo de Aguas Calientes: ciudad base de Machupicchu para pasar la noche en el hotel y cenar en el restaurante local.
