Venture to the most representative floating islands of Puno and live a phenomenal experience with the local families.
Day 1
At 8:00 a.m., we will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the port of Puno. There we will board a motor boat to a magical place, the floating islands of the Uros, where families still live on platforms made of totora reeds. You will walk around these islands, learn about their ancestral customs and feel the warmth of their people. You will have time for photos and to explore this floating world! Then, we will sail through the blue waters of the Titicaca to the charming island of Amantani. Upon arrival, local families will greet you with a smile and open the doors of their homes. After a typical lunch, get ready for an optional hike to the Pachatata temple, the highest point on the island at 13,615 ft. From there, you will see a breathtaking panorama of the lake and the Andes. At night, the party continues! You will participate (if you wish) in a traditional celebration where you will dance to local rhythms and wear the typical costume of the island.
Day 2
The next day you will wake up to a peaceful view of the lake and enjoy a homemade breakfast. Afterwards, we will set sail for the beautiful island of Taquile, home to Peru's best weavers. We will hike up a scenic trail to the main square (12,959 ft.), where you will enjoy spectacular views and learn about the famous textile tradition of the Taquileños. You will visit a local family who will tell you stories about their culture, and you will see up close how they make their meaningful textiles. You will then continue your hike to the second port on the island, from where you will return by boat to Puno. The adventure ends around 3:30 p.m., with a heart full of memories.
