What to Pack for Manu

Build a practical packing list for changing conditions between Cusco, cloud forest and the Amazon lowlands.

Manu travel guide

Pack for changing altitude, humidity and temperature rather than for a single climate. Lightweight long-sleeved clothing, quick-drying layers, a compact rain jacket, comfortable closed walking shoes and a small daypack form a practical base. Add sun protection, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle and any personal medication.

Protect documents and electronics in reusable waterproof bags. Neutral clothing is useful for wildlife observation, while a light warm layer helps during the higher Andean and cloud-forest sections. Binoculars and a camera are optional, but spare batteries can be valuable when an itinerary spends several days away from urban services.

SERNANP asks visitors to follow ranger instructions, stay on established routes, avoid disposable plastics, carry waste out and never disturb wildlife. Confirm the final packing list with the operator because baggage arrangements differ between road, boat and lodge itineraries.
