Day 01: AREQUIPA - VOLCANOES VIEWPOINT - AÑASHUAYCO - AREQUIPA

At the scheduled time, we will begin our adventure, departing from our office or a centrally located hotel. Our first stop is the Volcanoes Viewpoint, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Andean Apus—sacred mountains revered by the Incas—that today guard the White City: Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu. Next, we visit the Añashuayco Quarry, an active sillar stone extraction site. Over time, the quarry has transformed into a massive canyon with imposing white walls that reach 30 meters in height. Here, local stonecutters will demonstrate their carving techniques and showcase the various uses of sillar. Our journey continues to the Culebrillas Ravine, an untouched sillar quarry located between the districts of Uchumayo and Cerro Colorado. A 20-minute hike through this mystical landscape will allow us to observe enigmatic petroglyphs carved into the ravine walls. On our way back to the city, we will stop to see the Apachetas, cone-shaped stone structures traditionally placed along Inca Trails as offerings. These structures, deeply rooted in Andean culture, create a profound mystical ambiance.
